    • Robbins and Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease; ISBN 978-1416031215, also known as “Big Robbins”. “Baby Robbins” is helpful for a quick refresher or rapid facts.

    • The Quick Reference Handbook for Surgical Pathologists by Natasha Rekhtman and Justin Bishop (ISBN 978-3-642-20085-4) covers useful areas for Part 1 such as important differential diagnoses, immunohistochemistry panels, translocations and cancer syndromes.

    • Paul Tadrous, Diagnostic Criteria Handbook in Surgical Pathology - It may be helpful to look at the autopsy chapter; it should come complementary with Pathsoc membership

    • Attend study days, teaching sessions, make notes and revisit them

    • See box sets - you own local teaching sets, as well as collections in other trusts if required

    • Look at virtual slide sets - PathXL, ExpertPath, Immunopath, Leeds, John Hopkins

    • Read the books - e.g. Differential Diagnosis in Surgical Pathology

    • Attend MDTs - learn about prognostic and treatment implications of histological diagnoses, etc
